How do grocery list aisles work?
To help you shop faster, your grocery list is grouped by aisles, like Produce, Dairy, or Bakery. Items are automatically sorted into these sections unless you choose otherwise.
How aisles are assigned
By default, items are assigned to aisles using artificial intelligence (Auto-select). You can turn this setting off in your list settings. Here’s how it works:
- When adding items from a recipe: Aisles are chosen automatically using ingredient data. If Auto-select is off, all items will go into the "Other" aisle until you reassign them.
- When adding items manually: The app tries to assign an aisle based on the item name. If Auto-select is off, the aisle selection field will default to "Other". In either case, you will always have the chance to manually select an aisle before confirming the new item.
To change the Auto-select setting, tap the three dots > List settings.
You can change an item's aisle at any time:
- Tap the item and select a new aisle from the dropdown
- Or drag it to a different section of the list
How to manage aisles
To customize your aisles, tap the three dots at the top right of your grocery list, then go to List settings > Manage aisles. From there, you can:
- Rename aisles
- Reorder them
- Delete aisles you don’t use
- Add your own custom aisles
