What is smart formatting?

Smart formatting helps turn inconsistently formatted text into clean, organized grocery list items. When smart formatting is off, the ingredient text is displayed as-is without trying to structure it. When it’s on, JustTheRecipe automatically splits your input into separate fields:

• Item name
• Quantity and unit
• Notes

This makes your grocery list easier to scan, so you can see what you need at a glance.

How to toggle it

You can turn smart formatting on or off in your grocery list settings:

1. Tap the three dots at the top right of your grocery list
2. Select List settings
3. Toggle the Smart formatting checkbox
